Lama Jigme Rinpoche, a master of Tibetan Buddhism, will visit Prague from 17 to 19 June. During the weekend course, Rinpoche will convey in his distinctive, warm and accessible way the most important instructions on Buddhist meditation and how to apply it successfully in today’s turbulent times.

Meditation, Rinpoche says, is not about stopping thoughts (that’s not even possible), but about not letting them disturb one’s natural clarity of mind. The more we become familiar with this clarity, the lighter our mind will become – less burdened by futilities. However, for meditation practice in a Buddhist context to yield results, several conditions must come together: first, one must know how the mind works. This, together with an understanding of the doctrine of karma and the impermanent nature of phenomena, will lead us to develop kindness and compassion – as unpleasant feelings are not only experienced by us, but affect everyone. By developing this understanding, along with meditation training, everyone can return to the primordial qualities of clarity of mind.
